Don't Give Your Money

Most people get the impression from churches that God is after your
wallet (as if He needed your money to keep His kingdom in the black).
Interestingly, the Apostle Paul teaches a principle in 2 Corinthians 8
that is simply this: God doesn't want your money unless He has you.

Regarding a group of generous believers, Paul writes: "They did not do as we expected, but they gave themselves first to the Lord and then to us in keeping with God's will." (vs. 5, NIV) In view of this, it would be fair to say that it is NOT God's will for people to give money to their church or to other helpful causes UNTIL they first give themselves to God.

Have you surrendered your life to Him? "Tipping" God at church on Sunday morning might help your church meet its budget goals, but it doesn't impress God. He wants you -- your heart, your love, your focus, your priorities, and your future.

Challenge: Before contributing a penny more, why not consider making yourself the donation? It will take faith, and probably sacrifice, but whatever it may cost you, it will be well worth it in the end.
