If you ever travel to Concord, New Hampshire, you might see a
friendly, older fellow who is excited to share his faith in God. The more I discussed spiritual matters with
him, however, the more I felt like something was missing from his
thought-process. Something was
definitely wrong with this picture.
In the Old Testament, the Hebrews had many different names for God—each based on a particular facet of His character or power. One such name was “Jehovah-Shammah,” or, God who is there.
But was God really there? Is He still here today? Imagine interviewing the following Bible characters at the end of their lives, asking them just one simple question: “Was God 'there' in your life?”
Our human fathers can fail and do wrong...but not God. He offers the
perfect, undying love that we long for...the security of a love not
based on performance or appearance. He loves us for who we are because
He created us! His love is totally undeserved...it can't be earned,
bought, or manipulated. He will never leave you or forsake you.
